The Johannesburg Emergency Management Services are on high alert due to heavy rainfall in many areas of the city.
EMS spokesperson Xolile Khumalo has urged motorists to exercise caution while driving and maintain a safe following distance to ensure their safety on the roads.
“We also caution residents not to drive through flooded roads and low-lying bridges. A message goes out to residents that have built their homes near riverbanks to ensure that they exercise caution during this time.”
