The 80-year-old man accused of being involved in the murder and burial of a man on a farm in Kroonstad has been granted R15 000 bail by the Kroonstad Magistrates’ Court in the Free State.
The court says the personal circumstances of the accused allow for his release on bail. Magistrate Tsheko Komane says the court considered the frail condition and the age of the accused.
Komane added that there was no evidence of the accused trying to intimidate witnesses.
Komane also says there was no evidence of the accused’s life being in danger.
The matter has been postponed to the 9th of October for further investigation.
His underage grandson has been released into the care of his parents on similar charges.
