The Plaasmoorder (Farm Murder) Monument is hosting its annual White Cross Memorial on the side of the N1 Rd outside Polokwane, Limpopo.
Thirty-four new white crosses have been planted at the Plaasmoorde Memorial site on the side of the N1 outside Polokwane, in Limpopo. The crosses are planted to honour the lives of 34 white farmers who were killed in the period between October, last year and now.
A cross planting ceremony is part of the annual White Cross Memorial held in October, every year.
A convoy of tractors full of farming equipment on the N1 also go underway as part of the memorial.

“Thirty-four crosses were planted commemorating the farmers that were murdered in the past year. Farmers are the back bone of the country. They provide food to all of the South Africans, black and white, no matter who,” says Plaasmoorde Monument’s Kobus Witkruis.

He says it is heartbreaking to know that some of the brutual killings are totally just for the killing and nothing is stolen from the house.
“It’s senseless. I hope that we can solve this problem in the near future,” he adds.
