32 taxis impounded in Eastern Cape during traffic operation

At least 32 taxis were impounded by the King Sabatha Dalindyebo Municipal traffic authorities at Mqanduli in the Eastern Cape on Saturday.

The law enforcement operation was in response to complaints raised by local residents and authorities found that some taxis were unroadworthy and operating without permits.

The Chief Traffic Officer in the municipality, Luyolo Quluba says the operations will be conducted regularly.

“We will be conducting these operations right through the year, visiting identified taxi ranks because they fall under municipal facilities.”
