32 suspects arrested during Operation Vala Umgodi in Mpumalanga

Thirty-two suspects have been arrested in Mpumalanga for the Contravention of the Immigration Act and Fraud during the Operation Vala Umgodi over the weekend.

According to the police, 10 suspects were arrested at Thusi Village and Wesselton area in Ermelo.

Another  14 suspects were arrested in Simile informal settlement in Sabie, while eight suspects were arrested in Barberton.

All suspects were found to be undocumented foreign nationals.

They are expected to appear in different courts this morning.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner in Mpumalanga, Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi, says the police will continue with Operation Vala Umgodi in a bid to eradicate illegal mining activities in the province.
