24-year-old FS woman to appear in court for the possession of drugs

A 24-year-old woman is set to appear in the Clocolan Magistrate’s Court in the Free State on Wednesday for the alleged possession of drugs.

She was arrested during an intelligence-driven operation of the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit on Tuesday night.

Nyaope and mandrax, with an estimated street value of R11 000, and an undisclosed amount of cash were recovered from the suspect.

Provincial police spokesperson Mahlomola Kareli says the drugs were being transported to the area between Clocolan and Ficksburg.

“Members proceeded to the suspects’ residence in Thethe Location, Clocolan. While en route, further intelligence was received, indicating that the primary suspect, a 24-year-old female, was travelling from Johannesburg after allegedly collecting a consignment of drugs.”

“The PAGU team immediately set up a roadblock on the R26 road near Clocolan. The suspect’s vehicle was soon intercepted. Police discovered a large quantity of Nyaope drugs in her possession. The female suspect was taken to her house for a further search, where police recovered two full tablets of Mandrax,” aads Kareli.
