A 24-year-old man has been arrested in N2 Gateway near Delft in Cape Town, for the illegal possession of an AK-47 assault rifle and ammunition. Police Spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi says members of the Anti-Gang Unit followed up on information about a firearm being stored at a house in the area.
Swartbooi says officers found the Russian-designed rifle wrapped in plastic, hidden under a bed.
He says the suspect is due to appear in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court once he is charged.
