203 New Year babies delivered at Gauteng public hospitals

Two hundred and three babies were delivered in public hospitals across Gauteng on New Year’s Day between midnight and noon.

Academic hospitals delivered 31 babies, mostly from Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital with 20 babies. Tertiary hospitals delivered a total of 12 babies.

Tembisa Hospital and Kalafong Hospital delivered six babies each.

Gauteng Health MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko visited Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto this morning to welcome the newly born babies and showered them with essential gift packages.

“Each child born today is truly a gift, bringing joy, hope, and we know that love to all of us and our families. I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate the dedicated staff in our maternity unit, your tireless efforts and commitments to excellence have ensured safe deliveries to countless families.”
