2025 LGE will be watershed moment for eThekwini: Hoosen

The Democratic Alliance’s (DA) mayoral candidate for the eThekwini metro, Haniff Hoosen, says next year’s elections will be a watershed moment for the future of the city.

Hoosen says with the African National Congress’s (ANC) dwindling support at the polls, there’s a great certainty that the face of local governance will change.

Hoosen was announced last week as the DA mayoral candidate for KwaZulu-Natal’s metro city. He served as a councillor in eThekwini before he was deployed to the National Assembly from 2007 to 2024.

Hoosen says the DA will not give up on eThekwini.

“What it means for me is that this time around, there’s a much better chance of achieving the outcome that we want. We’ve tried, for so many occasions, to make sure that we continue fighting, but on this occasion, I can tell you that it’s almost a certainty,” he says.

He says he’s convinced that people can see a situation when two devils are fighting and that the angel will always rise.

“I think that’s the situation that we’re going to find ourselves in,” he adds.
