The 2025 edition of the Carling Knockout Cup will commence this weekend with all Betway Premiership teams in action.
Stellenbosch FC will host Kaizer Chiefs in the pick of the matches at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Amakhosi were thrashed by Mamelodi Sundowns 4-nil in the quarterfinals last season.
Chiefs beat Stellenbosch in the league this season, but interim co-coach Cedric Kaze says that will count for nothing in the cup match.
“Unfortunately, the history of the last fixtures that Chiefs won against Stellenbosch won’t help us in this game, which means we need to concentrate we need to go all out.”
MTN 8 champions Orlando Pirates will be at home to Siwelele FC at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Buccaneers lost to the current champions Magesi FC in the first-round last season.
Buccaneers beat Siwelele FC in the league recently, but coach Abdeslam Ouaddou is expecting a difficult encounter this time.
“I said just after we played against Siwelele that this team will definitely not stay in that position and they showed it the next week, so we are expecting a very strong opposition and we will put all our ambitions, all our motivation to try and go to the next stage.”
Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou says Tshepang Moremi’s call-up to Bafana Bafana squad for the 2026 #FIFAWCQ is well deserved and talks to the lifestyle he’s also living.

2024 finalists Mamelodi Sundowns will host Marumo Gallants at Lucas Moripe stadium on Saturday evening.
The Brazilians were shocked by Magesi FC in the final last season.
Downs drew with Gallants in the league this season and coach Miguel Cardoso knows what their opponents are capable of.
“Marumo Gallants have not lost against us, Chiefs and Pirates this season so we expect a tough opponent, but we are preparing the best way, we had a chance this week with few training sessions which is unique and positive for us.”
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso says how this season has started is a strong indication that it’s going to be a tough campaign for them, as he prepares for the opening #CarlingKnockout match against Marumo Gallants.
