The De Aar regional court has sentenced a 19-year-old man to 20-years imprisonment for the killing of a teenager at Petrusville in the Northern Cape.
The court found that Chris Blaauw murdered 13-year-old Dion Rudy and dumped his body in a field outside Petrusville.
Police spokesperson, Molefi Shemane, says he pleaded guilty in the De Aar Regional Court.
“Police in Petrusville were alerted on Monday, 26 May 2025, at approximately 10:00, by a passer-by to the body of a minor lying in a field next to the Kalkfontein Gravel Road. Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered the body of a 13-year-old boy in the veld, with a stab wound to the chest.”
Shemane adds, “The deceased was later identified as Dion Ruby Bezuidenhoudt. A thorough police investigation led to the arrest of a 19-year-old suspect, Chris Blaauw. Police successfully opposed bail, and the accused remained in custody throughout the court proceedings.”
