14-year-old killed, another wounded in Cape Flats crossfire shooting

A 14-year-old girl has been killed and another wounded in a shooting incident in Facreton, Kensington, on the Cape Flats.

Police say the girl was caught in the crossfire in the incident, which happened on Saturday night.

Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg says the victim was declared deceased on the scene by emergency medical personnel.

“An adult male who sustained a gunshot wound to his arm was treated on the scene. According to reports, the suspect opened fire on a silver Volkswagen Polo when the victims were caught in the crossfire. The suspect fled the scene and is yet to be arrested.”

Twigg adds: “Murder and attempted murder cases were registered for investigation. Meanwhile, SAPS detectives are following up all available leads in a bid to apprehend the suspect.”
