Police have arrested 14 suspects in connection with various shooting incidents in Mitchells Plain on the Cape Flats.
Five people were killed and seven others wounded in the area yesterday.
Police spokesperson FC Van Wyk says 43 houses in Beacon Valley, Tafelsig and Portlands were searched.
He says suspects aged between 20 and 39 were arrested for murder and attempted murder.

Van Wyk says the members were divided into teams and areas such as Beacon Valley, Tafelsig and Portlands were targeted, and several houses were searched.
Van Wyk adds that a total of 43 identified gang houses were searched.
He cites that at one house; a unlicensed 9mm Norinco pistol and ammunition were confiscated, and an inquiry was registered.
“Five firearms and an assortment of ammunition were confiscated and seven suspects aged between 17 and 46 were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and possession of prohibited firearm and ammunition. Fourteen suspects aged between 20 and 39 were arrested for murder and attempted murder, and a 30-year-old suspect was arrested for the illegal possession of ammunition. All the suspects are due to appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 2025-07-07 on their respective charges,” adds Van Wyk.
